Roșia Montană, 13. May 2014 - Alburnus Maior and Save Rosia Montana Campaign have the pleasure to announce a new edition of FanFest culture and protest festival. The ninth edition of FanFest will take place this year between 11th and 17th of August. The 2014’s edition of the festival offers to the interested public a variety of multi-cultural activities, bringing together music, theatre, literature, poetry, photography, civic activism, tradition and history – all under the slogan FanFest: Nurture the revolutionary spirit!
This year, the activities of the festival will cover 7 days. The organizers would like the participants to have a real cultural holiday, combining hiking with concerts, exhibitions, debates, theatre and many other events available. This way, the participants will have the opportunity to discover not only Rosia Montana, but also the people who chose to fight for it: locals, activists, artists. The festival will include, like before, the Peasant’s Market, with traditional produce and healthy food, while the Children’s Area will offer juggling, puppet plays and painting. The music scene will benefit from contributions from outside the country and we can already confirm the presence of two bands in August, in Rosia Montana: Baba Zula from Istanbul, Turkey and Chikos del Maiz from Spain. Numerous Romanian bands, which also supported Save Rosia Montana Campaign in the past, together with new names for FanFest, like Toulouse Lautrec and Vlad Dobrescu, will be part of the music programme. In terms of theater performances, the Reactor collective from Cluj prepares several socially engaged performances. The special events section will include new acts that range from organ to piano recitals, musical improvisations and screenings accompanied by live music.
FanFest is a festival organized entirely on a voluntary basis, all the artists and staff perform and contribute pro bono. The costs that can not be covered by sponsorships are paid with the help of individual donations. As in the past editions, all those wishing to support the festival are invited to donate using the tools available on the FânFest webpage. In this sense, along with the announcement of this year's edition, we launch the first donations call that will help us get the bands to FânFest. Please donate – solidarity music is only possible through gestures of solidarity!: www.fanfest.ro/donatii
